Bird Watching Tower in Vilkkiläntura, Virolahti
The tower is by the sea, surrounded by a shallow gulf. It’s a great place for watching waterfowl and waders resting on their migration routes. The best season is from April to May. The tower has one open platform. It was built in 1982. There’s room for a bus in the parking area.
Driving directions: Drive towards Border Guard Station and Hurppu. In about two kilometres, there’s a junction with signs to Tilli, Vilkkiläntura and “Vilkkilänturan torni” (the tower). The parking area is 300 metres away on the left side of the road. Further on the road, on the left side, there are duckboards leading to the bird watching tower.
