Bird Watching Tower in Rautalahti

The three-metre-tall, open tower with one platform is by a bay, bounded by horsetail, bushes and trees. In early May, large quantities of swans will gather to Rautalahti. If you’re lucky, you may even spot the tundra swan. In early summer, the bay is an excellent place for listening to nocturnal singers.

Driving directions: The tower is close to the main road 6, about 6km north of Särkisalmi. When arriving from south, there’s a sign to Rautalahti to the right, about a kilometre before the tower. When the road passes the tower, there’s a parking area on the left side of the road. The tower, however, is on the right side of the road, by the lake.
